- To act as a central advisory, consultative and co-ordinating body for the science industry in Australia.
- To represent the science industry on all matters concerning it in discussions with Federal, State and Local governments and instrumentalities thereof.
- To create a greater public awareness of the benefits and essential role of the science industry and of the corporations and persons operating within it.
- To acquire in the interests of the Australian community at large and of the science industry knowledge of proposed Australian or overseas legislation in any way affecting or relating to the science industry or which could affect or relate to it.
- To take such steps as the Association considers necessary to protect, promote and advance the science industry.
- To marshal and develop the technical resources necessary and essential to a sound and healthy science industry so that the objects of the Association are met and fulfilled.
- To promote a high ethical standard in the conduct of business within the science industry and to develop the confidence and respect of the public.
